New Orleans, Louisiana, October 29, 2009 – Mark Govin, president of MarkMaster, a manufacturer of identification products based in Tampa, Florida, was named National Supplier of the Year by the National Minority Supplier Development Council at its annual conference in New Orleans, from October 25-28. The firm won in the category for companies with annual sales between $10 million and $50 million.

MarkMaster, Inc., a 76-year-old Hispanic-owned company, develops banners, hand and mechanical devices, name badges, posters, rubber stamps and signs. The firm registered $12.4 million in sales in 2008 and spent nearly $500,000 with other minority business enterprises. “Small business is the engine that drives the economy and NMSDC’s award-winning suppliers are proof of that,” said Harriet R. Michel, NMSDC president. “During a challenging economy, major corporations have counted on excellent minority suppliers like MarkMaster to deliver great products, cost savings, quality service and innovative solutions. This level of performance will be increasingly valuable to more corporations as the economy recovers.”

The regional winners recognized in the same category with MarkMaster were: Primera Engineers Ltd. of Chicago, Illinois; River City Furniture of West Chester, Ohio; and Sugar Bowl Bakery in Hayward, California.
